Pies are $5/slice beginning at 2 pm. CASH preferred.

Bakers and Pie Fans,

It is time for another Southside Pie Challenge throwdown… Will it be a Crisco or an all-butter crust that reigns supreme? Can you top last year’s Grand Champion Maple Honey Pecan Pie? Will there be new pie inspiration for your own holiday table?

Most importantly, we are seeking an alarming increase in need. Just last year, 1 in 5 Chicagoans weren’t sure where their next meal was coming from; now it’s 1 in 3. The cost of food is up 20%… gas is up… clothing and housing as well. During this time when half of Southside households are experiencing food insecurity, can you help us raise a record amount to support our local Hyde Park/Kenwood Hunger Programs? Our community is counting on you…

As the city’s longest-running juried amateur pie-baking event, we will celebrate the art of baking and eating pie while raising much-needed money for the Hyde Park/Kenwood Hunger Programs! We will again come together as a community to support both our neighbors and our beautiful South Side!

Instructions for bakers on November 1: please deliver TWO IDENTICAL PIES in disposable pie pans to the Hyde Park Neighborhood Club, 5480 S Kenwood Ave, between the hours of 9:00 am and 10:30 am.

**** Due to health and safety concerns, pies with MERINGUE topping can’t be accepted, please top with Whipped Cream instead.
