Our goal is to celebrate the diversity and awesomeness of Chicago's South Side through the celebration of autumn pies - and not just apple, but all kinds of sweet, delicious freshly baked pie goodness. And, in 2012, the first ever South Side Pie Challenge was held and its success humbled and amazed us.
All proceeds from the South Side Pie Challenge are donated every year to the Hyde Park & Kenwood Hunger Programs to help fight hunger on the South Side. We raised $4,000 last year and hope to do even better this year. Registration fees, sponsorship dollars, and pie slice sales at the event make this goal possible.
Thanks for making our little pie dream possible, everyone! Here's to another year!

It all started back in 2011 when Kate entered her signature apple pie in the Bucktown Apple Pie Contest and Julie came to support her friend and to write about the experience for her blog. No award ribbons were won for Kate's pie, but an even better thing happened - the idea for a South Side pie competition was born.
